introduces Vitamin Sea. In 2013, we founded the 1st seaweed farm in the Netherlands and since then we are pioneering the development of this innovative field full of potential. In 2018 Zeewaar became Biologically (Organically) Certified by the EU, in 2019 we scaled up the farm and processing operations, and in 2020 we obtained the much coveted FSSC 22000 Food Safety certificate. At Zeewaar we believe in sustainable seaweed cultivation because it is good for people ánd planet. As the underwater rainforest, seaweed is of invaluable importance to our planet. That is why we should all leave the wild seaweed stock to play its important ecological role: capturing C02, producing oxygen, balancing the nutrient levels of our seas, filtering water, protecting against coastal erosion, and as a nursery for life under water. As a food source, sustainably cultivated seaweed offers an impressive list of benefits: a fascinating combination of vitamins and minerals, unique compounds like fucoidans and alginates, and it is a natural flavor enhancer. So it tastes great and it's healthy ! Zeewaar's sustainable cultivation activities has contributed to the visible reduction of the damaging "wild harvesting" practices in the EU.
